巫茂春博士现任香港理工大学机械工程系助理教授、校长青年学者、博士生导师。巫博士2014年本科毕业于华南理工大学,同年赴香港科技大学机械系攻读博士学位。2018年获得博士学位后留组从事博士后研究并于2020年晋升为香港科技大学机械系研究助理教授。巫博士于2021年12月加入香港理工大学机械工程系,主要研究方向为电化学储能,包括液流电池、锌基电池、固态锂电池等。近年来以第一/通讯作者在Advanced Energy Materials, Nano Energy, Chemical Engineering Journal等刊物发表学术论文80多篇,引用超过5000多次,谷歌h指数38。巫博士现担任Batteries期刊客座编辑和Carbon Neutrality, Energy Storage and Saving, e-Prime等学术期刊青年编委。

报告简介:

Large-scale energy storage plays a crucial role in transition to a renewable energy powered future. Rechargeable zinc batteries hold great promise for this application because of their high energy density, low cost, environmental friendliness, and intrinsic safety. However, the wide application of this technology is hindered by several critical challenges, including short cycle life and low power density. In this talk, I will first discuss the fundamental causes of these issues. Then, I will introduce our strategies to tackle these challenges, with an emphasis on manipulation of the mass/charge transport and electrochemical reactions at the electrode/electrolyte interface. The similarities and differences between static and flow zinc batteries will be compared and elaborated. Finally, I will discuss the remaining challenges and future perspectives.
